Christians around the world have Christmas Eve

For Catholics, Protestants and followers of most Orthodox churches around the world, December 24 is the Christmas Eve that precedes Christmas.

Christmas will come on December 25 – for everyone except the parishioners of the Jerusalem, Russian, Georgian and Serbian Orthodox churches, which celebrate this holiday according to the Julian calendar, on the night of January 7th.

This year, just like last, Christmas will be subject to coronavirus restrictions. In particular, traditional festivities in Trafalgar Square have been canceled in London. In Germany, the restrictions will take effect after Christmas and will affect the New Year’s mass celebrations.

In France, according to preliminary calculations, about 500 thousand people will spend Christmas in self-isolation after a positive test for coronavirus: since December 16, the number of new cases of the virus has exceeded 50 thousand daily, and on December 22 it amounted to 84.2 thousand cases per day. After receiving a positive result, the French are required to spend 10 days in self-isolation.
