At the beginning of 2022, the updated spelling rules of the Russian language will be approved. They will include new words that have been actively used lately, Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov told reporters.
According to Kravtsov, the list of such words includes, in particular, “Internet”, “e-mail” and a number of other words, the spelling of which “is important to fix, including for judicial practice.” At the same time, he noted that the Ministry of Education is introducing into the rules “only a part that meets the challenges of the time”, and “more serious and large-scale changes” will take place later in agreement with the spelling commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Recall that in early November, the Ministry of Education presented a draft of new spelling rules, which take into account the emergence of new words in the Russian language, including “Internet”, “dealer”, “default”, “realtor”, “low-cost”, “car sharing”. Then the spelling commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences criticized the project, stating that the document contained “rash innovations and a complete absence of a scientific apparatus.”
