BelTA: Seven “terrorists” were detained in Belarus, the eighth managed to escape to Russia

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the arrest of seven people who were preparing terrorist attacks on the territory of the republic. All of them were detained on December 22 and the day before, December 21.

Another of the failed terrorists managed to escape, “possibly by fleeing to Russian territory.” At the same time, Lukashenka hopes that the fugitive will be sent back.

According to the BelTA portal, the terrorist attacks were being prepared against civil servants of Belarus, including judges and prosecutors.

At the same time, Lukashenko called on government agencies to increase their vigilance in the selection of personnel in order to identify enemies of the state who may try to boycott the constitutional referendum scheduled for February 2022. “Be very careful and careful, because together with the police, the KGB and the prosecutor’s office, the Investigative Committee, we are still pulling out these scoundrels,” he added.

According to previous statements by the head of Belarus, the role of the government and parliament will be strengthened in the new Constitution, the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly will receive constitutional status, while the president remains the head of state responsible for forming the government.
