Landslide in Chimbo caused damage to homes and the road; at least five families were affected

Moments of anguish and despair lived this Tuesday night, residents of the Tambán neighborhood, in the San José de Chimbo canton, Bolívar province, when a loud noise alerted them that something had happened in the sector. Before the noise they left their homes and then there was a collapse of proportions.

According to information from ECU911, the collapse affected five homes (5 families with 21 people). One of these families (4 members) is in the shelter of the Tres de Marzo educational unit.

Another 3 families with 16 members are renting, and one family is in a foster home.

Also in a preliminary report it was indicated that a private property was affected (church), in addition to two public assets (acoustic shell – meeting room, sports field), 150 meters of first-order road between Chimbo-El Cristal and 60 meters from the S / N cobbled street.

In addition, it was indicated that in the face of the collapse, the provincial Emergency Operations Committee (COE) is activated in order to channel the aid and the necessary contingent to meet the requirements.

Response agencies such as the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) and Risk Management are also activated.

Through social networks since this Tuesday morning the authorities were called in order to address the situation, because after the rains of the last hours they were alerted to what could happen since on the road cobbled large openings were observed. (I)
