National COE reiterated that the burning of puppets at the end of the year can be done with a close family circle

It is forbidden to do it in massive events that generate crowds.

This Tuesday, authorities announced new measures to face the Christmas celebrations and the end of the year. One of these is the presentation of the vaccination card for non-essential activities.

In his speech, Juan Zapata, president of the National COE, clarified that the burning of puppets is not prohibited but that massive events that generate agglomerations are.

From December 23 it will be mandatory to present the vaccination card or certificate to enter public places, by order of the National COE

“What we do not want and we have prohibited are massive public events such as festivals, contests, obviously these neighborhood events and especially these festivals that have been the pretext of the burning of the puppet because it generates large crowds and potential risk … If you do it in front of your house with your intimate family circle, then obviously this is not prohibited and it can be done by complying with biosecurity measures, “he added.

In recent days, the Guayaquil Cantonal COE conditioned the national instance to comply with the prohibition of burning puppets in public spaces if they do not allocate human, logistical and financial resources for the control of 600,000 properties.

On this, Zapata indicated that, without mentioning the local authority, he was surprised that they asked for resources when the competences belonged to the GADs. (I)
