Although this canton of Guayas is on a green traffic light, the members of the local Emergency Operations Committee (COE) resolved to adhere to the provisions of the national COE, among these, the most relevant are the limitation of capacity during the Christmas and New Year festivities. Convention centers, reception rooms, event venues, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, tolerance centers and the like must comply with 50% capacity in closed spaces and 75% in open spaces.
To visit rivers and public and private tourist centers, the maximum capacity will be 75% and the schedule for its use is established from 06:00 to 18:00.
The local COE prohibits the holding of public and private events in public spaces, such as: concerts, children’s passes, novenas, popular parties and dances, festivals, burning of puppets, festivals and neighborhood events, as well as the sale and consumption of beverages alcoholic and of moderation in public spaces.
The events that have been authorized before the issuance of this resolution may take place as planned. The Municipal Police Station, the Risk Management Unit and the National Police will carry out the necessary controls to avoid crowds and the proper use of public space.
Machala, capital of the province of El Oro, also welcomes the measures of the national COE.
The control authorities will be in charge of controlling the sale of fireworks and puppets in authorized sites.
Vanessa Zárate, coordinator of Risk Management of the Municipality of Machala, said that the provisions for the control bodies will be issued, “we are not going to authorize the passing of the Child and the burning of old years in the streets is not authorized,” said the official .
