The project to raise the draft age for those who received Russian citizenship was withdrawn

The State Duma received written statements about the withdrawal of the bill on increasing the draft age to 50 years for men with acquired citizenship. The document was criticized by the chairman of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin.

According to him, “the issue has not been worked out.” “Such topics must be discussed comprehensively before being brought into the public sphere,” the State Duma speaker noted.

After this, United Russia deputies Alexander Boroday and Mikhail Sheremet withdrew their bill. This became known from the project card on the State Duma website. It says that the authors of the document withdrew their signatures and submitted corresponding statements to the State Duma.

Another author of the bill, LDPR deputy Alexei Zhuravlev, told RIA Novosti that parliamentarians are ready to clarify the initiative in legal terms.

Earlier today it was reported that a bill has been submitted to the State Duma to increase the draft age for men who have received Russian citizenship. The explanatory note to the bill stated that natives of foreign countries who have become citizens of the Russian Federation avoid registering for military service or specifically wait until they reach the maximum conscription age and only then receive a Russian passport.
