The 32nd final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity took place on Sunday, January 28, 2024. The aim of this year’s collection was “Lungs after the pandemic”, and the funds collected as part of the campaign will be used to purchase equipment necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. Nearly 120,000 volunteers were involved in organizing the event. A well-known YouTuber from the Budda.TV channel contributed to this year’s collection. Kamil Labudda disguised himself as an older man and then, with a briefcase stuffed to the brim with money, he went to the market square in Krakow. There he put PLN 100,000 into the WOŚP cans. He recorded the entire event and later posted it on his YouTube channel, where he is followed by nearly 2 million people.
Jakimowicz referred to Buddy’s campaign on the occasion of WOŚP
Buddha’s idea was criticized by Jaros³aw Jakimowicz, who formerly hosted the “W Kontrze” program on TVP Info. The presenter posted a video online in which he commented on the entire action. “If he didn’t want publicity, and all the media writes that he wanted to avoid it, he could have made a transfer, paid into the account of some hospital… He wouldn’t have to put on any masks, hide and walk around with a suitcase full of money. Such a simple situation. “He could help someone directly. No one would collect tribute from these 100,000 zlotys if he wanted to directly help these children and not put on some shit show and talk about their uniqueness,” Jakimowicz said.
Later in the statement, the former TVP star mentioned Jurek Owsiak, accusing Buddha of “herding Owsiak and his family.” “If even 10,000 of these 100,000 are left for these children, it’s still good. Let’s just not make a spectacle of it and let’s not cheat people,” concluded Jarosław Jakimowicz.
This year, over PLN 175 million was collected for WOŚP, but this amount may change because the funds are still being counted.
