A Harbin delegation led by the leadership of the Foreign Affairs Department of the People’s Government of the city, as well as representatives of the Harbin city media, visited Moscow.
The purpose of the visit, which took place on January 30–31, was to negotiate the possible participation of Chinese ice and snow carvers in the Journey to Christmas festival, as well as exchange experience on coordinating work with the media.
During an official meeting with the Harbin delegation, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of External Economic and International Relations Vyacheslav Manuylov, as well as General Director of the Big Asia TV channel Alexander Lebedev, the parties for the first time discussed the possibilities and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of media between Moscow representatives and Chinese partners.
Following the negotiations, an interview was held with three descendants of Russian emigrants who lived in Harbin during the construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway. The plot will be included in the film “Russian Harbinians,” which is the main project of Harbin City Television.
In turn, representatives of the Harbin City Television Station invited the Moscow side to visit Harbin to organize the filming of a joint documentary about this city, which will reveal its beauty and originality to Muscovites.
The past meetings were an important step towards the beginning of cooperation between representatives of Russian and Chinese media within the framework of the Russia-China Years of Culture 2024–2025 announced by Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. Such an experience will allow residents of the two cities to become better acquainted with the culture and traditions of Moscow and Harbin.
Chinese partners expressed high interest in continuing multifaceted bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Harbin, as well as expanding interaction and searching for new areas for mutually beneficial cooperation in order to strengthen and deepen bilateral ties.
