In Crimea, the rules for crossing the border with the Kherson region and back have been tightened

The Crimean authorities have introduced a special regime on the border with the Kherson region, reports the RTVI television channel, citing a decree by the head of the peninsula, Sergei Aksenov. It follows from the document that the rules for crossing the border in the north of Crimea are becoming more strict compared to the previous version of the decree.

The introduction of a special regime is associated with the need to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the peninsula and protect military and other strategic objects of Crimea. Crossing the border between regions is available only at three road points (Dzhankoy, Armyansk and Perekop), as well as at two railway points (Dzhankoy and Armyansk). The rest of the checkpoints do not work for entry and exit. Using them, according to Aksenov’s decree, is prohibited.

At the same time, Aksenov emphasized that the work of the listed checkpoints will change and become similar to the work of checkpoints on the Russian border. Now citizens will need to have a passport with them and show it at control points in order to enter the territory of Crimea. The decision was made in accordance with the decree of the Russian President on the introduction of martial law in the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Vladimir Putin signed such a document on October 19, 2022.

Since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, Kyiv has repeatedly attempted to attack Crimea using drones. In addition, in October last year, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers tried to enter the peninsula. This operation ended with the liquidation of the Ukrainian military group.
