In the USA, an ex-Pentagon employee was arrested for an attempt to spy on Russia

A former Pentagon contract worker, Jane Murray Rowe, has been arrested in the United States and accused of attempting to spy for Russia, the US Department of Justice reports.

According to the department, 63-year-old Rowe worked for about 40 years for various companies that carry out contracts with the US Department of Defense. He had access to top secret information on aerospace technology of the United States Air Force.

Rowe was reportedly fired from the defense firm where he worked after a series of security breaches. He also “showed an active interest in the events in Russia” and tried to get access to “top secret information from the Russian government.” The FBI then carried out an operation to provoke Rowe. The man confirmed to an agent posing as a Russian, “a desire to work with the Russian government and discuss his knowledge of classified information regarding US national security and military interests.” In the end, the dummy agent received from him classified information about the means of electronic suppression, which is equipped with US military aircraft.

As a result, Rowe was arrested and charged with attempting to transmit information about national defense to foreign authorities. He faces up to life imprisonment.
