The so-called death crusade was launched for the first time and meant the restoration of constitutionally included powers, executive and legislative, although it left us the judiciary, which, as we have seen through recent and not so recent revelations, could have been the real epicenter of political, social and before of all the security chaos of citizens that we are experiencing.

A year in which corruption, in its drug aspect, came to light, with political connections with mafias drowning the population in anxiety, which as collateral damage very often places innocent victims among those fighting for territories, especially near the southern port of the city. The help that these new actors of the bloody national reality receive from officials, dignitaries, judges, mayors, policemen, and even journalists, turns the stomach. “There is no one who can resist a million dollar cannon shot,” I once heard a Colombian soldier say sarcastically, trying to justify his corrupt colleagues. A frozen year. And I’m not trying to be ironic about the high temperatures that the frustrating El Niño phenomenon leaves us with, especially on the coast. Not. Frozen in an economy that many wanted to reactivate after the disaster caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. But this was not possible in 2023 because, in addition to the absence of public works that reactivate employment, and legal and social security that encourages investment, high levels of insecurity have made the streets and many businesses that stoically endured the coronavirus too hot.
