Back pain can be a real pain for many people. Many of us resort to exercise and massage, hoping for relief, but why don’t these methods always bring the expected results? About this in a conversation with Pravda.Ru journalists. said rehabilitation specialist and kinesiotherapist Arina Soboleva.
Strength exercises are a great way to develop muscle strength, which helps maintain proper body position in space. Stretching exercises, in turn, help reduce the risk of injury and increase joint mobility, which makes our daily activities more comfortable. However, to achieve true harmony, it is necessary to correctly combine both types of exercises.
Interestingly, many people have imbalanced muscles in their bodies. The reasons for this can be varied:
- A sedentary lifestyle is when we spend a lot of time in the same static position.
- Excessive physical activity – associated with the characteristics of work activity.
- Injuries – bruises, fractures, concussions and other injuries.
- Scars and cicatrices – which can compress soft tissue and cause imbalance.
As a result of uneven load, some muscles shorten and form so-called “functional blocks”, which ultimately leads to back pain.
It is important to understand that pain is not the root of the problem, but only a symptom. Therefore, a massage aimed only at relieving pain in a specific place may help temporarily, but will not solve the problem forever. It is recommended to find and eliminate the root causes of pain and consolidate the results through targeted exercises.
Combating back pain requires a comprehensive approach and understanding that each case is unique.
