A new update informs the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and this time it concerns the policy guide for foreign students.

USCIS has issued new guidance regarding F and M visa classifications for nonimmigrant students, including the agency’s role in reviewing applications for employment authorization, change of status, extension of stay, and restoration of status for those students and their dependents in the United States.

This guidance, the agency says on its website, consolidates existing policies.

Citizenship Services hopes the guidelines will provide clarity to foreign students and U.S. academic institutions on a variety of topics, including eligibility requirements, school transfers, hands-on training, and on- and off-campus employment.

The non-immigrant visa categories F and M are intended for non-citizens who want to study in the United States, USCIS and La Nación said.

F-1: Allows a noncitizen to enter the United States as a full-time student at a college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, private elementary school, other academic institution, or in a language training program.

M-1: It includes students in established vocational schools or other recognized non-academic programs, with the exception of language training programs, the southern media pointed out.
