During the cold season, the car needs special care, said car expert Sergei Ponomarev. In an interview with the online publication “Moscow Region Today,” he explained how to properly warm up a frozen car.
According to the expert, many drivers make the mistake of trying to defrost car doors and locks that have frozen overnight with hot water. He warned that such an approach could lead to burning of hands and feet, and could also cause car damage: frozen glass could crack due to sudden temperature changes, the paint would fade and cracks would appear, and the lock could freeze even more due to moisture remaining in it. reports aif.ru.
“If the doors are frozen, you need to knock on the door frame around the entire perimeter and actively press on the seals to break up the ice that has formed. To clear ice from the windshield, you should gradually heat its surface using the car heater. A car scraper can also help with this,” he explained.
Ponomarev also recommended not to neglect the rules for operating the machine. According to him, it is important to promptly correct even minor problems and breakdowns so that they do not lead to serious damage to the car in the future.
“For example, if in the summer you can drive for some time with a worn silent block, then in the winter it is better to replace it. Small cracks and breaks in silent blocks in winter can become a serious malfunction. The same applies to CV joint boots. Even with small cracks in winter, they can break at the first turn,” Ponomarev added.
