Doctor of Economic Sciences Valentin Katasonov expressed his opinion regarding the message about the planned increase in the minimum wage (minimum wage) in Moscow to 29,389 rubles in 2024, which exceeds the federal standard by 1.5 times. Katasonov believes that such a step is “extremely negative.”
“Any citizen, even one who does not have high political awareness, sees that this actually leads to the division of the country and the creation of preconditions for its collapse. After all, our state is called the Russian Federation, and in a federal state all subjects should have approximately the same status, the same income, prices, privileges, and so on. If differentiation begins, this indicates the presence of behind-the-scenes disagreements,” Katasonov noted.
The expert admitted that it is not known who initiated the increase in the minimum wage in Moscow, but he believes that this is an issue that should attract the attention of the prosecutor’s office responsible for compliance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which prohibits such differentiation.
Katasonov emphasized that the establishment of a separate minimum wage for Moscow, above the federal level, different from the standard throughout Russia, is a violation of the law, and not an action consistent with the legal order, as provided for in the Constitution, writes Pravda.Ru.
