Former footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic joins Milan’s board of directors
Former football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic has joined the board of directors of Milan. GlobeNewswire reports this.
Ibrahimovic has taken up the post of senior adviser to the American investment company Redbird, which owns the Italian club. “His remit will include player development and match training, promoting Milan’s global brand and commercial interests, and supporting special projects of strategic importance,” the statement said.
On June 5, Ibrahimovic announced his retirement. “I will be a Milanista all my life. It’s time to say goodbye to football, and not just to you,” said the 42-year-old athlete.
Ibrahimovic joined Milan’s squad in 2020. He previously played for the team from 2010 to 2012. The forward is also known for his performances for Ajax, Inter, Juventus, Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and the Swedish national team. The striker is the top scorer in the history of the national team.
