A road bridge across the Pakhra River collapsed in the Moscow region when a car was driving across it.
The emergency was recorded near Podolsk on Friday afternoon. At that moment, a Skoda car was driving along the crossing, driven by a 60-year-old woman. She was injured as a result of the bridge falling. The Moscow Region Ministry of Health reported that the woman is in moderate condition in the Podolsk Clinical Hospital.
Traffic on the section of the Kutino-Dubrovitsy regional road is temporarily closed.
Based on the incident, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the negligence of officials leading to the collapse of the bridge. The department noted that investigators and criminologists from the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region went to the scene of the incident.
Podolsk city prosecutor Viktor Zakharov also went to the site of the collapse. He will coordinate the work of emergency services and law enforcement agencies, explained the press service of the Moscow Region Prosecutor’s Office. “During the inspection, the circumstances of the incident will be established, and the actions of those responsible for the maintenance of road infrastructure will be assessed,” the prosecutor’s office added.
According to the Mash Telegram channel, the victim works at the Institute of Military History. Doctors discovered she had a chest bruise, a limb bruise and a knee injury.
