Machaleños will light their Christmas tree at 8:00 p.m. this Sunday, December 12, in the Zoila Ugarte park in Machala, El Oro province. This imposing structure is 36 meters high and is adorned with led lights.
This act will take place in the middle of a musical and artistic festival, organized by the Municipality of Machala.
Darío Macas Salvatierra, mayor of the city, explained that the assembly of the tree began last week and ended at noon this Saturday. “We believe that it will be the largest in Ecuador,” said the official, who added that -in addition- the park is decorated with Christmas scenes that have life-size characters.
During the night of this Sunday it is planned to offer a show of lights and air show with Santa Claus that will arrive from the top, to the main stage.
