The majority of Russians (69%) condemn the actions of the rioters at Makhachkala airport and express their opposition to interethnic conflicts.
As shown by the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), 27% of respondents consider them to be criminals who disrupted the operation of the airport, 26% – accomplices of enemies whose actions were aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.
According to 79% of surveyed compatriots, the unrest in Dagestan was organized; only 10% consider it spontaneous. 29% of survey participants named Western intelligence agencies as their organizers, and another 13% named Ukrainian intelligence agencies. In addition, 16% of respondents consider the protesters to be nationalists promoting anti-Semitism.
About half of those surveyed (48%) were in favor of harsh punishment for riot participants, about a third (31%) believe that “it is better not to resort to harsh forms of punishment.” However, every fifth person found it difficult to answer.
The VTsIOM survey, which was conducted by telephone on October 31 on behalf of the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISR), involved 1,600 Russians over the age of 18.
Let us recall that on October 29, hundreds of Dagestanis rushed into the territory of the Makhachkala airport after the announcement of the arrival of
regular flight from Tel Aviv amid the worsening situation in the Middle East.
