The Russian national football team will play against Cuba in the next friendly match. The name of the team’s opponent, Valery Karpin, was announced on the website of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

On October 16, the Russian team played a draw with Kenya. Four days earlier, the Russians beat Cameroon. By decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Karpin’s team was suspended from international competitions.

The Russian national team has never played against Cuba in history. The USSR Olympic team met the Cubans once, beating them in the group stage of the 1980 Games in Moscow with a score of 8:0.
