In St. Petersburg, the air monitoring system is being completely modernized

Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov announced a complete modernization of the air monitoring system in the city by 2025. He stated this in the program “Petersburg. New look” on the air of TV channel “78”.

According to him, in the Northern capital, more than four years ago, ecology became a priority for the government. Beglov noted that 75% of city buses already use environmentally friendly natural gas. “This allowed us to reduce transport emissions by almost 26 thousand tons per year,” he added.

By the end of the year, all boiler houses in St. Petersburg will switch from coal and fuel oil to environmentally friendly types of energy – gas or electricity.

The new city budget provides for the allocation of 1.5 billion rubles for the purchase of specialized environmental equipment. Beglov said that in the next two years it is planned to update 25 automatic air monitoring stations. Thus, by 2025 the air monitoring system will be completely modernized.

In addition, five modern complexes for sorting and processing solid waste will be created in St. Petersburg.

It was previously reported that St. Petersburg will spend 5 billion rubles on payments to participants in the special operation.
