Barbara Horowianka met her future husband before the war. Then they played together in the sandbox. The second time she saw him was when she was 21, while working in a theater. Mieczysław Voit, who was two years older than me and preferred to be called Sławek, already had . His wife died while giving birth to a child. However, it turns out that they did not complete all the formalities. – The parish priest married us without first asking us for a civil marriage certificate. We were supposed to complete this formality later, but later… we were both so busy that we always ran out of time, she confessed. – My husband is my friend, lover, son, brother. It fills my whole world. Everything in it is closest and dearest to me, said the actress.

The life of the young couple was not easy. It quickly turned out that Mieczysław Voit was addicted to alcohol. The disease affected the entire family. – I still couldn’t sleep because all night long there was either drinking or talking. I don’t know how I coped with it, because I was taking care of my sick mother-in-law, I was raising my husband’s daughter, there were rehearsals and performances every day, we played a lot in films – admitted the Horowianka. – I don’t remember when he stopped drinking. But when I noticed that after drinking the previous day, he started the next day with alcohol and said that he had to “drink a wedge to straighten up”, I knew it was bad. At the end of the 1980s, Sławek was in such a bad condition that I had to take him to the rehab ward of a hospital in Łódź. The doctors there helped him a lot, the actress admitted in an interview for “Stolica”. Mieczysław Voit died in 1991 of a heart attack in his sleep. The Horowian still maintains a relationship with her husband’s daughter, who lives in London.
