The number of arrested riot participants at Makhachkala airport has doubled. As Zarema Mamaeva, head of the press service of the Supreme Court of Dagestan, told TASS, 15 people have already been taken into custody.
Earlier it was reported that seven were arrested.
It is noted that the Karabudakhkent District Court of Dagestan convicted 10 local residents of participating in the riots. Eight people received a sentence of administrative arrest for eight days, another two, “taking into account their state of health,” received 60 hours of compulsory labor.
Previously, seven participants in the disturbances at the airport were arrested for petty hooliganism for periods ranging from three to ten days.
Mass riots occurred on the evening of Sunday, October 29, at Makhachkala airport. Hundreds of protesters against the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv stormed Uytash Airport. They were forced out by police officers. As a result of the incident, more than 20 people were injured, including law enforcement officers, and more than 80 people were detained. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the unrest in Makhachkala was organized by Western intelligence services through social networks from the territory of Ukraine. In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the unrest in Dagestan “a provocation organized from outside.”
