Stars who died in 2023. Who have we said goodbye to in recent months?

On November 1, we traditionally remember our deceased loved ones, but also famous people who contributed to culture, cinema and music. Many stars passed away in 2023. All Saints’ Day is a good opportunity to recall the profiles of some of them.

In 2023, we said goodbye to many stars and famous names. It is impossible to list everyone who has made a permanent mark in the history of culture, not only in Poland. Among the celebrities and people distinguished for culture who died in 2023 were, among others: Lisa Marie Presley, Stanisław Lenartowicz, Asja Łamtiugina, Tina Turner, Barbara Borys-Damięcka, Sinéad O’Connor, Milan Kundera, Wojciech Korda, known for his role as Chandler from “Friends”, and Barbara Stesłowicz.

Leonard Pietraszak. The legendary Dowgird and Kramer died on February 1

In his youth, Leonard Pietraszak dreamed of a career as a boxer, but this adventure did not last long because his father forbade him from practicing this sport after losing a fight. In 1960, he graduated from the acting department of the Łódź Film School. He became popular with his roles as Colonel Dowgird in the series “Black Clouds”, Karol Stelmach in “Czterdziestolatka” and Gustaw Kramer in the series “Vabank”. The actor died on February 1.

Janusz Weiss. The journalist also became famous as a game show host

Janusz Weiss was one of the most popular radio journalists. In 1968, after the March events, he was expelled from his studies at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology. Already in 1967, he performed in cabarets, first Abakus, later in the Salon Niezależnych group. He was the co-founder of Radio Zet and hosted the cult game show “A Billion in Reason” on TVP. Fans of his radio activities are well familiar with the program “I’m calling you, sir, about a very unusual matter”. Janusz Weiss died on March 10.

Krzysztof Olesiński. The musician Maanamu performed with the band for 12 years

Krzysztof Olesiński started working with the Maanam band in 1979. A year earlier, the bassist founded the band Piknik together with his brother, Ryszard. He took part in the recording of the band’s first album, and also performed with them during the 18th Festival in Opole. Olesiński performed with the legendary group on and off for 12 years. He finally broke up with Maanam in 2003, and three years later he emigrated to London. He died on June 18.

Miriam Aleksandrowicz. They called her “the mother of Polish dubbing”

for years she was the face, or rather the voice, of domestic dubbing. She was called the “mother of Polish dubbing” by other actors. She has produced over a hundred Polish language versions of TV series, animated films and cult fairy tales, but she was also responsible for directing, casting and producing many productions. She started her career in dubbing thanks to her mother, who was also a dubbing director. Miriam Aleksandrowicz’s voice could be heard in such films and series as “DuckTales”, “The Lion King”, “Hercules”, “Casper” and “The Croods”. She died on July 5.

Andrzej Precigs. Docent Deptuła from “Klan” and the father of Katarzyna Cichopek in the series

he made his stage debut in 1972 and appeared on screens for the first time a year earlier. He became interested in theater in high school, when he also played guitar in the big beat band he founded. He planned to become a teacher, but after the first year of Polish studies, he went to Łódź to study at the acting department.

He appeared in such productions as “Daleko od szosy”, “Polish roads”, “Lalka”, “Miś”, “07 zgnią się”, “Nad Niemnem” and many others. In 2000, he joined the cast of “M jak miłość”, in the series he played the role of Zbigniew Filarski, the father of Kinga, played by Katarzyna Cichopek. Viewers also know him from the role of docent Deptuła in “Klan”. He died on August 26.
