The Bolivian Government announced early this Wednesday the severance of diplomatic relations with Israel due to “crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people” that that country commits in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by the Minister of the Presidency of Bolivia, María Nela Prada. For their part, Chile and Colombia have called their ambassadors for consultations.

Likewise, in a statement, the vice chancellor, Freddy Mamani Machaca, has indicated that the Bolivarian Government “has made the determination to break diplomatic relations with the State of Israel in repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive being carried out in the Gaza Strip.” The announcement was issued by Mamani Machaca, from the Government House in La Paz, together with the Minister of the Presidency and interim Foreign Minister, María Nela Prada.

Bolivia has demanded “the cessation of attacks against the Palestinian people” and rejects “the hostile” treatment by Israel towards those responsible for the international organizations in charge of providing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. For its part, Prada called for “dialogue and structural solutions” to avoid “a further escalation of the conflict worldwide.”

The interim chancellor called on the “brother countries” and the integration processes in which Bolivia participates to “produce collective action” to achieve pacification in the region and “avoid genocide.” Likewise, JA that Bolivia will send humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and that the Bolivian Embassy in the Netherlands will assume the concurrent function with Palestine.

While the Colombian and Chilean presidents have reported that they have called for consultations its ambassadors in Israel as a sign of rejection.
