Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, at the request of journalists, commented on one of the forecasts of the now deceased politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who said that by 2024 a conflict will break out in the Middle East and “everyone will simply forget what Ukraine is.”
According to him, a special military operation in Ukraine is an independent process that is being implemented by the Russian Armed Forces. “Our special military operation continues, the goals will be achieved,” the Kremlin official assured.
Peskov admitted that Zhirinovsky “made a lot of different statements, which, of course, contained an absolutely accurate analysis of trends in the development of certain events in the future.”
He also answered a question regarding the timing of the completion of the special operation. “I can’t say anything about the completion date; this is the prerogative of our military,” Peskov said, TASS reports.
In addition, he said that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s schedule does not yet provide for contacts with the top leadership of Israel and Palestine. “Contacts are made through diplomatic departments. If necessary, such contacts can be organized very, very quickly,” the Kremlin representative explained.
Earlier, Peskov refused to discuss rumors about the transfer of the Black Sea Fleet to Novorossiysk.
