British scientists have made another discovery: almost every domestic cat (and cat) has signs of psychopathy. The research results are published on the website of scientific publications ScienceDirect, RIA Novosti reports.
The study was conducted by a team of experts from the University of Liverpool John Moores. A special questionnaire for cat owners, Cat Triarchic Plus (CAT-Tri +), was created. 549 cat-owners answered the questions of scientists.
The questionnaire contained 46 statements that described the behavior of a domestic cat or cat from the point of view of the owner. Statements like this: “My cat vocalizes loudly (meows or howls) for no apparent reason”; “My cat runs around the house for no reason”; “My cat doesn’t seem to feel guilty about bad behavior,” etc.
An analysis of the responses of cat owners showed that cats often have courage and disinhibition in their character, but there is no sympathy and remorse. Combined with an unfriendly attitude towards people and other pets, scientists say, this suggests that domestic cats and cats have signs of psychopathy.
