The European Commission (EC) announced on Monday the start of an exercise to counter large-scale cyber attacks.
“High-level cybersecurity representatives from EU Member States, the (European) Commission and the European Union Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) are participating in a two-day operational level exercise – Blue OLEx 2023 – to test EU preparedness in the event of a cyber crisis “- the EC said in a communiqué published in Brussels.
According to the document, the exercises are carried out within the framework of the EU-CyCLONe (Cyber crises liaison organization network) – a network of European national bodies responsible for countering cyber crises.
Brussels explained that the EU-CyCLONe network is designed to complement existing cybersecurity structures at the EU level, it contributes to the implementation of the European Commission’s action plan for a rapid response “in the event of a large-scale incident or crisis of cross-border cybersecurity.”
In addition, participants will discuss “strategic issues of cyber policy, in particular how to form a coherent crisis management structure at the EU level,” the EC said in a statement.
