“Metallurg” scored eight goals in a game for the third time in the history of the club in the KHL
Magnitogorsk Metallurg scored eight goals in a match in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for the third time in the club’s history. This was reported on the league website.
On October 2, Metallurg defeated Neftekhimik in their arena with a score of 8:3. The Magnitogorsk team scored five goals in the third period. The hosts scored Danila Palivko, Jean-Sébastien Di, Danil Gololobov, Semyon Koshelev, as well as Denis Zernov and Pavel Akolzin, who scored a double. Nikita Setdikov, Nail Yakupov and Nikita Khlystov scored goals for the guests.
Previously, the Magnitogorsk club showed similar results twice. In the 2010/2011 season, the team beat Severstal 8:3, and in the 2017/2018 season they defeated Kunlun Red Star 8:2.
On October 4, Metallurg will again meet with Neftekhimik in the KHL. The match will start at 17:00 Moscow time at Arena-Metallurg.
The current winner of the Gagarin Cup is Moscow CSKA. In the 2022/2023 season, the team won the trophy for the third time. The capital club defeated Kazan Ak Bars in a series of up to four wins with a score of 4:3. Previously, the army team won the KHL in the 2018/2019 and 2021/2022 seasons.
