The flag of the unrecognized NKR differs from the Armenian one only in the presence of a white pattern.

The head of Nagorno-Karabakh Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree on the liquidation of the unrecognized republic. It ceases to exist on January 1, 2024. The president also dissolved all government institutions, it follows from the document, reports the Karabakh information headquarters.

He noted that the decision was made “in connection with the current difficult military-political situation.”

“Taking into account the agreement reached through the mediation of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent with representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan that free, voluntary and unimpeded passage of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh is ensured, a decision was made to dissolve all government institutions and organizations, and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) ceases to exist.” , – noted in the text of the decree, quoted by RIA Novosti.

The document comes into force immediately after publication.

Let us recall that on September 19, Azerbaijan announced the holding of “anti-terrorist measures of a local nature” in Karabakh. As a result, at least 200 people were killed and another 400 were injured, said Commissioner for Human Rights in Nagorno-Karabakh Gegham Stepanyan. On September 20, six Russian peacekeepers were killed when they were shot at from small arms near the village of Dzhanyatag. The hostilities lasted for a day; with the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, the Armenian population of Karabakh and Azerbaijan agreed on a ceasefire. From 13:00 on September 20, a ceasefire was established in Nagorno-Karabakh. Baku announced the completion of the “anti-terrorist operation”, and Yerevan unilaterally announced the decision to lay down arms and cease fire. On September 21, a meeting between Azerbaijan and representatives of Armenians in Karabakh took place in Yevlakh. Baku said it had provided representatives of the Armenians of Karabakh with a draft peace agreement.
