As its head, he contributed to the popularization of the Japanese console on the Polish market. He allocated considerable funds for the development of the Polish branch of the company – which resulted in, among others, appearance of the first games with Polish dubbing on PlayStation consoles.
In 2019, Ryan replaced John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera on as Director General of SIE. As head of the global PlayStation division, he participated in, among others: in the launch of the latest generation of consoles, PlayStation 5. The premiere of PS5 turned out to be a great financial success.
Ryan has been one of the heroes lately court battle between Microsoft and the US Federal Trade Commission, which concerned the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The head of PlayStation was one of the people who most loudly demanded that this transaction be blocked, arguing that it could make Microsoft a monopoly in the games market, which would create a threat to its competitors.
However, the FTC lost the fight with Microsoft and everything indicates that the Redmond company will soon finalize the merger with Activision Blizzard worth almost USD 70 billion.
