An orthopedist told what not to do if a child falls out of bed

If a child falls from a height, you cannot immediately pick him up. Orthopedic traumatologist Anton Kustikov spoke about this, writes Gazeta.Ru.

According to him, the baby must first be examined and only then moved. “If he is injured, any sudden movements can aggravate his condition. Lay the child in a horizontal position, examine for bruises, hematomas or bumps,” the doctor noted.

He added that further testing of range of motion in the limbs is necessary. You need to bend and straighten the child’s arms and legs several times. “If movements are difficult and the child begins to cry, the injured limb must be immobilized and call an ambulance,” the doctor warned, noting that otherwise bone fragments could damage muscle tissue, nerve endings or blood vessels.

It is dangerous to immediately put an injured child to bed. He must stay awake for at least two to three hours, the doctor noted. According to him, this will allow a better assessment of the baby’s condition and not to miss the possible manifestation of alarming symptoms.

You should immediately go to the hospital in case of nausea, loss of consciousness, severe headaches, loss of coordination, severe lethargy or apathy of the baby, Kustikov added.
