In the Irkutsk region, police and rescuers are looking for a married couple with a five-year-old grandson who disappeared while fishing on the Lena River, the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
According to the agency, a 55-year-old man with a 46-year-old woman and a five-year-old grandson went fishing on a motorboat on July 15. They were supposed to return on July 17, but never showed up in the village of Yubileiny. It was not possible to establish contact with them either.
The head of the village administration contacted the police. The police and rescuers organized a search. During the search, a sunken boat was found with personal belongings, fishing gear and life jackets.
“Currently, the search for the missing continues. The coastal zone, taiga and winter quarters located in the specified area are being examined,” the police added.
A criminal case has been opened on causing death by negligence to two or more persons. The regional prosecutor’s office will assess the implementation of the legislation on family welfare, as well as the reasons and conditions for what happened.
