The lower limit of the draft age will remain the same, they will be drafted into the Russian army from the age of 18, Interfax reports with reference to a statement by Andrey Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee.

“The main amendment is that the upper limit is 30 years. It was decided to leave the lower limit of the draft age at 18, because a lot of guys want to go to serve at the age of 18, ”said Kartapolov.

He also added that the entry into force of these amendments to the law on the draft age, according to which this age will increase to 30 years, is proposed from January 1, 2024.

“These rules do not apply to the autumn conscription. Those who turn 27 in 2023, at least on December 31, will not fall under the new law, ”said Kartapolov.

Recall that on June 14, the first reading of bill No. 312507-8 on a phased increase in the draft age was passed. In accordance with the original version of the document, it will be possible to conscript into the army male citizens aged 18 to 30 years old, registered or not, but obliged to be registered and not in reserve. At the same time, the document stated that citizens at the age of 19 to 30 are subject to conscription – from January 1 to December 31, 2024; from 20 to 30 years – from January 1 to December 31, 2025; from 21 to 30 years – from January 1, 2026.
