Hungary urged not to send cluster munitions to Ukraine “so as not to multiply the victims and suffering of Ukrainians.” The official position of Budapest was voiced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto.

During a press conference after a meeting in Budapest with a Yemeni counterpart, the minister noted that the use of such ammunition could lead to tragic consequences in the humanitarian sphere.

“We ask everyone to take measures to bring peace to the neighboring country and save human lives instead of cluster bombs and any other weapons,” Szijjarto said, quoted by Gazeta.ru. He noted that the states that supply Ukraine with weapons take responsibility for the increase in the number of victims and “the suffering of even more families.”

Recall that on July 7, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan announced the start of deliveries of cluster munitions to Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled the statement of the White House press secretary dated February 28, 2022, in which it was announced that “the use of cluster munitions is a war crime.”
