The Polish premiere of the biographical film “Oppenheimer” directed by Christopher Nolan is fast approaching. As the director admits, the story of the creator of the atomic bomb is the most difficult one he has ever had to bring to the screen.

He has several absolute masterpieces to his credit, including “The Dark Knight”, “Interstellar” or “Dunkirk”, and soon his next film will debut on glass screens all over Poland.

Nolan has created another cinematic masterpiece. “Oppenheimer” – what is it about?

is a biographical war drama about the American physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer, who studied black holes and cosmic rays. On the international arena, however, he will become famous as the creator of the atomic bomb, the creation of which he worked intensively during World War II. Once it was established and he understood the risks of using it, he tried to limit its spread. This worked against him, and the American government removed him from all secret documents on charges of espionage.

The production script is based on the famous Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Oppenheimer. The Triumph and Tragedy of the Father of the Atomic Bomb” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The cast of the production includes a galaxy of the biggest Hollywood stars, including Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. or Emily Blunt. He was cast in the title role

Cillian Murphy has revealed how long it took to film ‘Oppenheimer’. How long is the final version?

Everything indicates that it will be another masterpiece in the director’s oeuvre. The film, lasting over three hours, is considered by many to be a real spectacle. Interestingly, the production was carried out on a grand scale, but the work on the set lasted less than 2 months. “We made this movie incredibly fast. We did it in 57 days. The pace of it was crazy,” Murphy added that it was an extremely difficult but inspiring adventure for him.

Nolan himself claims that this is not a light and pleasant film, and the story shown on the screen may shock and provoke reflection. – Before the premiere, I showed “Oppenheimer” to another director. He perceived my film as a horror film, and indeed, I find it hard to disagree with him – in one interview, admitting that when the final version was approved, he felt relieved. A similar opinion was also shared by historian Kai Bird, who admitted after the pre-premiere screening that he “can’t get over it” after what he saw. – I feel that this is a unique artistic achievement that has a chance to spark an international dialogue – he argued. “Oppenheimer” will hit the big screens all over Poland on July 21, 2023.
