Russian citizen Vadim Konoshchenko, accused of illegally purchasing electronics for the Russian military-industrial complex, has been extradited from Estonia to the United States and will stand trial on Friday, the office of the federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of New York said.
At the same time, in the message, the Russian was called “an employee of Russian intelligence.” If found guilty, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
At the end of 2022, the US prosecutor’s office announced the arrest in the United States of certain Alexei Braiman and Vadim Yermolenko, as well as the arrest on December 6 in Estonia of Vadim Konoshchenko, whom the US authorities consider to be an employee of the Russian special services. According to the case file, “Konoschenok openly called himself an FSB colonel in e-mails.” It is noted that after a search in a warehouse in Estonia, recorded on the son of Konoshchenko, about 170 kg of cartridges of various calibers were allegedly found there.
According to the state prosecution, Yermolenko and Bryman helped smuggle various electronics and equipment for Konoshchenko to Estonia.
