The change of dates is part of the measures that the country took before the omicron variant for the safe return to face-to-face classes.
The National Emergency Operations Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Education a change in the schedule of return to face-to-face classes for all educational institutions, both fiscal, fiscal, municipal and private due to the global alert for the appearance of the new variant of coronavirus , omicron.
New dates of return to face-to-face classes
- Regime Sierra-AmazonÃa: Monday, February 7, 2022, in the second semester 2021-2022, with a capacity of 100%.
- Regime Coast-Galapagos: Tuesday, May 3, 2022, for the start of the new school year 2022-2023.
- Students in Rural High Schools and Productive Technical High Schools, in the Costa-Galapagos and Sierra-AmazonÃa regime, who were already in attendance at 100% capacity, will continue with this scheme until the end of their school year.
According to the Ministry, these previous provisions are for the cantons with 85% complete vaccination in the population aged 5 to 17 years.
Due to the new dates decided by the national COE, in the case of the Costa regime, student activities will end virtually, therefore the return to classrooms with 100% capacity will be for the 2022-2023 school year.
