The double murder of two people that occurred last Monday in the west of Manta remains under investigation, while the mayor of the canton, Agustín Intriago, requested the attention of the Government authorities regarding the criminal acts.
Pablo Ramírez, commander of Zone 4 of the National Police, pointed out that the corresponding inquiries are being made regarding the crimes that have occurred in Manabí in recent days, including the double crime, and also made a request to report or provide information to help this line of investigation.
This investigation, according to Ramírez, seeks to find out the motivations for the murder of the two people, who did not have a criminal record. They were allegedly engaged in fish buying and selling activities.
Last Monday, the two men, identified as Raúl Franco Noriega and John Hincapié, the last Colombian, were attacked in a hitman style while talking in the 8 de Abril neighborhood, in western Manta.
One of those police inquiries is related to the apparent kinship of the foreign citizen’s partner with Gabriel Álava Flor, a businessman who was murdered the week before when he was waiting for a food order on 17th Street and 20th Avenue, near Flavio Reyes Avenue. , pink zone of Manta.
“We have information related to what you mention (they would be cousins), so I tell you, in these cases we have the first hours are very important in the investigation, especially the data that we are collecting today, we will have important results in the coming days”, Ramírez pointed out.
So far this year, according to the police chief, in Manabí there have been 180 violent deaths, 59 more than in all of 2020.
Due to these recent events, the mayor of Manta, Agustín Intriago, called for attention to the Government authorities and asked that solutions to this problem be promoted.
He indicated that the acts of blood carried out in broad daylight are shocking and added that one cannot be in a kind of orphanhood, while crime continues to commit crimes in the streets of this Manabi canton.
“Possibly the police figures speak of the fact that almost all (with honorable exceptions) of violent fatalities had a criminal record or some criminal relationship, but that does not remove the anxiety in which we all began to live as citizens,” said the mayor Mantense. (I)
