The submersible Titan, which lost contact a few days ago in the Atlantic, will run out of air in less than 20 hours, said Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard.
According to TASS, Moger relies on the fact that, according to initial data, the underwater vehicle could provide air to people on board for 96 hours. However, it is difficult to accurately estimate the remaining time due to the fact that there is no data on the rate of oxygen consumption by each person who is on board the device.
Mauger added that rescuers working at the site of the bathyscaphe’s disappearance proceed from the assumption that there is less than 20 hours of air left in order to find and rescue the people on board.
“This is a remote place, we have prioritized both from the point of view on the surface and under water,” said Rear Admiral. At the same time, he admitted that the nature of the sounds that were recorded on Wednesday night has not yet been established, they are being analyzed.
Recall that the OceanGate underwater vehicle disappeared from communication on June 18 during an expedition to the Titanic.
