The damage to the Kherson region due to the consequences of the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is tentatively estimated at 11.5 billion rubles. Such data was given by the chairman of the regional government Andrey Alekseenko. Acting Governor Vladimir Saldo spoke about 1.5 billion rubles. True, he added, the final calculations could be done after the waters had receded.

Alekseenko noted that local authorities, with the assistance of the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection of the Ministry of Defense, are beginning engineering reconnaissance of the territories where the water has come down. The necessary reagents were sent to disinfect water and soil.

For its part, the damage assessment commission began to survey the houses in order to start paying compensation to local residents as quickly as possible.

According to RBC, preliminary estimates of damage as a result of the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station were also given by the Ukrainian government. The publication reminds that the right bank of the Dnieper is under the control of Ukraine, Russia controls the left.

According to the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko, damage to water resources was caused by UAH 2 billion (about 4.48 billion rubles), and this figure will grow.

Recall that the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the morning of June 6. As a result of uncontrolled descent of water, settlements on both sides of the Dnieper suffered. On the left bank, the cities of Novaya Kakhovka, Alyoshki and Golaya Pristan were flooded, while on the right bank Kherson and the villages adjacent to it suffered the most. Eight people were killed in the floods on the left bank. This was reported by the acting head of the Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo. As of June 10, over 6,000 people have been evacuated from the disaster zone.

More than 2.5 thousand people were evacuated on the right bank. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, as a result of the flooding of Kherson, four people died, 13 were missing.
