Banker Jassim bin Hamad bin Al-Thani submitted a bid to buy the English club last Wednesday. This would be Sheik’s fifth proposal to become United’s owner, offering around 6 billion pounds (about R$ 36 billion at current quotation).
The Glazer family, who are the current owners of the Manchester team, are willing to sell all their shares and step out of command altogether. Currently, United is estimated to have around £970m (R$5.9bn) in debt and bank loans.
At the helm of PSG since 2011, Al-Khelaifi is also the CEO of Qatar Sports Investments, a sports investment fund in the country linked to the royal family. In his management, the president of the French team was responsible for bringing names like Neymar, Messi and Mbappé to Paris.
