and Janusz Ekiert met in the 1960s in the Polish Radio building. At that time, the singer had one unsuccessful marriage, the fruit of which was a son. In turn, the 33-year-old musicologist was a bachelor, but he did not complain about success with women. They both made an impression. “Whoever looked at Villas was stunned. (…) She fascinated not only me, but everyone. Whole crowds wanted to go to bed with her” – Ekiert in the book “Villas. After all, I have nothing to hide”. Although they had a hot feeling, the relationship did not stand the test of time. What made them different?
Villas did not hide her jealousy. She constantly accused Ekiert of having affairs
Acquaintance with Ekiert quickly turned into fascination, which in turn resulted in a romance. However, the singer did not know that her beloved was still in a relationship with the esteemed pianist Lidia Grychtołówna. They hid this acquaintance for a long time. They only admitted their feelings for each other in 1965, when they appeared together at the opening of the Grand Theatre, rebuilt after the war. Their tumultuous relationship lasted for several years. Villas constantly made scenes of jealousy, and Ekiert patiently endured them. They alternately broke up and got back together.
When she loved, she loved maniacally, but when she was furious, she was ready to throw herself with a knife. Mostly out of jealousy. And then, on her knees, she begged for forgiveness
— . Everything changed when in December 1966 Villas left for a contract in Las Vegas. Ekiert promised that he would “wait for her”, and the artist regularly wrote letters in which she assured her unflagging affection. At that time, the musicologist met with beautiful women, whom he often took for a drive in the Villas car. Upon learning of these deeds, she immediately decided to return to her homeland. “First, she wrote me these angry letters that I was cheating on her, and then she came to check it out,” recalled Ekiert.
When she found out he had a wife, she was furious. She begged him to come back to her
After returning to her homeland, Villas was shocked, because it turned out that during her absence, her beloved married her former partner Lidia Grychtołówna. She couldn’t accept the rejection. She begged him to give him another chance. He finally gave in and moved into her villa in Magdalenka. They only lasted a few months together. She couldn’t find a relationship, she couldn’t run a house. She devoted most of her time to creativity or beauty, and, as Ekiert emphasized, her jealousy was his greatest nuisance. Villas constantly accused him of having affairs, even claiming that he was picking up her son’s friends. Finally, the cup of bitterness overflowed. In 1973, Ekiert decided to move out of the house. Although Villas became hysterical, begging him to come back, this time he was not persuaded. “I don’t regret anything.” It had to be, or we would have made each other unhappy. I had a colorful fragment of my life with her, because she was a very colorful character – said Ekiert years later.
