In the St. Petersburg art space mArs (Marsovo Pole, 3) on Thursday, June 8, a meeting with psychoanalyst and writer Pavel Ramzin “Francis Bacon – Postmodern Icon Painter” will take place. The event will be held as part of the “Kvartirnik” project. The start is at 19:00.
Postmodern philosophy is the most influential intellectual movement of today. Describing the current reality at the time of the second half of the twentieth century, its representatives became those who construct reality. Almost any phenomenon of modern culture that has an impact on the alignment of aesthetic, ethical, political, literary and other fashions today inevitably experiences the power of postmodern philosophy.
Any comprehension of the current situation of the world has in mind – at least in the mind, as a maximum directly – the philosophy of postmodernity.
What is postmodern? What is the peculiarity of his philosophy? How did the genesis of postmodern philosophy take place? What causes the total victory of postmodern philosophy in the struggle of intellectual movements?
Pavel Ramzin will not answer these questions. At least not planning to. Instead, the guests of the “Kvartirnik” will hear postmodernism sublimated in a specific example – the icon painter of the postmodern era and the master of figurative painting, a man without illusions: the English expressionist artist Francis Bacon.
Pavel Ramzin studied the theory of Jacques Lacan at the East European Institute of Psychoanalysis. Practicing psychologist-psychoanalyst. A writer who has repeatedly published in independent literary publications. For more than ten years he has been studying philosophy and cultural studies as a free researcher.
Tickets can be purchased before the start of the event.
