The European Union will not reconnect Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT until the end of the conflict in Ukraine. According to Izvestia, this was stated by the official representative of the foreign policy service of the political bloc, Peter Stano.
The diplomat stressed that the disconnection from SWIFT is among the sanctions imposed by European countries and their allies in response to Russia’s conduct of a special military operation in Ukraine. These sanctions can only be relaxed or lifted after the end of the conflict.
Commenting on the situation with the grain deal, Stano stressed that “the only thing that hinders unimpeded trade flows and the export of food and agricultural products through the Black Sea” remains a special operation. In addition, according to him, the conflict in Ukraine “exacerbated the already serious global problems of food security.”
“EU sanctions do not apply to trade in agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizers, between third countries and Russia, payment options still exist between them,” the diplomat added.
Recall, earlier it was reported that Russia called on the West to lift sanctions from the Russian Agricultural Bank to facilitate the export of Russian grain.
