Andrei Medvedev, the former commander of the Wagner PMC unit, who fled to Norway, wished to return to the Russian Federation, although he understands all the risks of such a decision. According to Reuters, Medvedev stressed that he had made the decision himself.
According to him, he turned to the Russian embassy in Oslo for appropriate assistance. Medvedev also added that he would hand over documents he believed would help facilitate his return to Russia.
According to RIA Novosti, the Russian Embassy in Oslo confirmed this information. The diplomatic department stated that they confirmed the fact of receiving Andrei Medvedev at the consular department of the embassy.
Recall that the Russian Andrey Medvedev stated that he had previously been the commander of one of the structures of the Wagner PMC. In January he fled to Norway and asked for political asylum. In February, Medvedev was arrested in Oslo for fighting and assaulting policemen during his arrest. The court sentenced Andrei Medvedev to 14 days in prison for violating public order and carrying an air gun in a public place.
