The head of the US Department of Justice, Merrick Garland, ordered that the funds that were previously confiscated from Konstantin Malofeev, the founder of the Tsargrad TV channel, be used for the needs of Ukraine.

This is reported by Reuters.

We add that Malofeev has been on the US sanctions list since 2014. In April last year, US sanctions against him were expanded. In particular, Transcapitalbank “and a global network of more than 40 individuals and organizations” were blacklisted, the actions of which, according to the US authorities, are controlled by an entrepreneur.

On February 3, the Southern District of New York court ruled to allow the confiscation of $ 5.4 million from the account of a Russian entrepreneur in Sunflower Bank. This was the first decision to withdraw the funds of a Russian citizen after the start of blocking the accounts of Russian citizens in the United States based on sanctions.

Earlier it was reported that Belgium used for military support of Ukraine 200 million euros of income from Russian assets frozen in the country.
