Poland expects to create the strongest land army in Europe within two years. According to TASS, this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blashak.
“We are on the right track to create the strongest land army in Europe within two years,” he said.
According to the minister, the first American Abrams tanks will be delivered to the Polish army in May. “Our goal is to create a very powerful military unit equipped with Abrams tanks,” Blaszczak said. He added that in the same month, Poland will receive from the United States the first HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems with a range of up to 300 km.
The Deputy Prime Minister also named the delivery of 96 American attack helicopters AH-64 Apache to the Polish army as his goal.
The supply of modern American military equipment according to the plans of the Polish authorities should strengthen the eastern flank of NATO and provide reliable protection for the so-called “Brest Gates”. So in Poland they call a flat area in the east of the republic with a length of about 180 km, separating Warsaw and Belarusian Brest. The Polish military considers it a vulnerable place for defense in a hypothetical military conflict due to the lack of natural barriers.
