India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) launched into orbit on Saturday carrying two Singaporean satellites. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
The launch was carried out from the launch site of the Satish Dhawan Space Center, located on the island of Sriharikota in southeast India.
The main payload is the TeLEOS-2 Earth remote sensing satellite, weighing 741 kg, equipped with a synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which provides high-resolution imagery (up to 1 meter).
The pictures taken by the device will be used by various departments of the government of Singapore.
The LUMELITE-4 experimental cubesat, created as part of a collaboration between the Singapore Science, Technology and Research Agency and the National University of Singapore, will also be launched into orbit. The 16kg craft will demonstrate the operation of a new high-speed data transmission system in space, which Singapore plans to use in the field of improving the safety of the navigation system of ships.
